China has called on India to adhere to bilateral border agreements and collaborate to maintain peace along their contentious frontier. This appeal comes amid fresh reports of a standoff between the two nations.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun emphasized Beijing’s commitment to existing agreements with India, stating that China’s regular patrols and border management efforts aim to protect its territorial sovereignty and ensure stability in the border areas. His comments followed reports of renewed tensions along the China-India border, with Indian officials suggesting these incidents arise when Chinese troops diverge from established patrolling patterns.
Guo highlighted that both countries are actively communicating through diplomatic and military channels to address border-related issues. He urged India to work with China on implementing mutual understandings and to take practical steps to prevent further tensions.
Maintaining peace and stability along the border is a significant challenge for China and India as they continue to seek resolution of territorial disputes through dialogue and established communication mechanisms.
