In a recent phone call, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva focused on boosting their countries’ relationship through enhanced economic cooperation and global collaboration. Xi highlighted the progress made by China and Brazil in building a shared future, emphasizing the importance of their development partnership in supporting economic growth and stability amid global uncertainties. He expressed China’s eagerness to deepen strategic coordination with Brazil on both bilateral and multilateral fronts.

During the conversation, Xi advocated for stronger collaboration among Global South nations. He urged both countries to foster high-quality development within the BRICS framework, while also supporting reforms to the global governance system to ensure fairness and justice internationally. Lula reciprocated by acknowledging the continued growth in Brazil-China relations, citing record levels of bilateral trade and increased cultural exchanges as evidence of their strong partnership.

Lula conveyed Brazil’s interest in furthering cooperation with China in sectors like artificial intelligence, energy, and minerals. He also welcomed additional Chinese investments in Brazil, seeing it as a pathway to mutual benefit. The Brazilian president congratulated China on its upcoming hosting of the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference, underscoring Brazil’s commitment to aligning with China on global initiatives.

Furthermore, Lula reaffirmed Brazil’s dedication to working alongside China in supporting the United Nations and strengthening BRICS cooperation. He emphasized the importance of promoting multilateralism and resolving international disputes through dialogue as key components of their cooperative efforts. The conversation between the two leaders underscores the strategic importance both nations place on their bilateral relationship and their shared vision for global development.
