In a recent meeting between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, the focus was on strengthening Sino-Indian cooperation and maintaining the positive trajectory of their bilateral relationship. Wang emphasized the importance of high-level exchanges between the two nations and suggested that they expand their collaboration in areas such as trade, media, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges. He also highlighted the need for dialogue to manage sensitive issues effectively.

Wang urged India and China to enhance their coordination on regional and global matters, advocating for joint efforts to promote multipolarity and advance the interests of developing nations. He reaffirmed China’s support for India as it hosts this year’s BRICS summit and called for increased collaboration within the expanded BRICS framework.

On his part, Jaishankar expressed India’s commitment to fostering a positive and cooperative relationship with China. He reiterated India’s positions regarding Taiwan and Xizang (Tibet), underscoring India’s respect for China’s sovereignty in these matters.

The meeting demonstrates the ongoing commitment of both countries to stabilize and deepen their bilateral ties, following recent improvements in their relations. The discussions reflect a mutual desire to address challenges and enhance cooperation across various sectors.
