Chinese President Xi Jinping and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un reaffirmed their countries’ enduring friendship during a meeting in Beijing, emphasizing closer cooperation despite global uncertainties. Xi stated that China’s commitment to maintaining and strengthening ties with the DPRK “will never change,” highlighting readiness to deepen high-level exchanges, strategic communication, and practical cooperation across multiple fields.
Kim, making his first visit to China since 2019, praised the long-standing relationship, saying that the friendship between the two nations would remain strong regardless of international developments. He reiterated Pyongyang’s support for China’s positions on sovereignty and territorial integrity, while also expressing willingness to expand trade and economic cooperation.
Both leaders pledged to enhance coordination on regional and international issues, including safeguarding peace on the Korean Peninsula and strengthening collaboration at multilateral forums. Xi also underscored China’s support for the DPRK’s socialist development path and its broader role in global initiatives.
