Xi Jinping, chairman of China’s Central Military Commission (CMC), presented certificates promoting two military officers to the rank of general, the highest rank for officers in active service in China. The promoted officers are Yang Zhibin, commander of the Eastern Theater Command of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), and Han Shengyan, commander of the PLA Central Theater Command.
The promotion orders, signed by Xi, were announced by CMC vice-chairman Zhang Youxia during a ceremony in Beijing, which was presided over by fellow vice-chairman Zhang Shengmin. Xi extended his congratulations to the newly promoted generals, underscoring their leadership roles in China’s military structure.
