During a recent inspection visit to Ulanqab in Inner Mongolia, Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of ecological conservation and sustainable green development in China. His visit highlighted efforts in wetland restoration, biodiversity protection, and the advancement of environmentally friendly computing infrastructure.

At Huangqihai Lake nature reserve, Xi reviewed conservation efforts that have successfully restored and expanded the lake, which was previously at risk of drying up due to climate-related pressures. He underscored the significance of implementing China’s wetland protection law, maintaining strict ecological protection boundaries, and prioritizing natural restoration in degraded wetlands, supported by scientific methods when necessary.

Xi also assessed progress on China’s “East Data, West Computing” initiative during his visit to the Chahar High-Tech Development Zone. This initiative aims to optimize the distribution of computing resources across the country. Xi called for the efficient operation of completed projects and the timely completion of ongoing developments. He urged authorities and industry stakeholders to promote computing infrastructure that is efficient, environmentally friendly, and safe, thereby bolstering China’s digital economy while supporting sustainable development.

In addition to these environmental and technological priorities, Xi took the opportunity to examine local agricultural and livestock products. He encouraged officials to improve the connection between production and markets to enhance the incomes of farmers and herders in the region.
