Chinese President Xi Jinping has emphasized the critical role of advanced manufacturing in China’s economic modernization, urging sustained efforts to bolster this sector. In a recent address, Xi called for high-quality, secure industrial development while advocating for the acceleration of smart, green, and integrated manufacturing processes.

Xi stressed the importance of fortifying domestic industrial supply chains to enhance self-reliance and resilience against external risks. This focus aligns with China’s ambition to build a modern industrial system with advanced manufacturing as its core, reinforcing the fundamentals of the real economy.

Premier Li Qiang echoed these sentiments, highlighting the role of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in transforming the manufacturing landscape. He urged businesses to speed up their digital and intelligent transformation, innovate, and develop high-end manufacturing capabilities.

Li also underscored the significance of adopting green and low-carbon production methods. He advocated for closer integration between manufacturing and modern services and emphasized the development of specialized advanced manufacturing clusters to drive industrial progress.

In pursuit of these goals, Chinese authorities are set to improve industrial standards, strengthen key supply chains, and address excessive competition to cultivate a more stable environment for advanced manufacturing. This strategy reflects a comprehensive approach to ensuring that China’s manufacturing sector remains competitive and sustainable in the face of global economic challenges.
