Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of confidence and steady progress as the nation works toward the goal of national rejuvenation, marking the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Speaking at a reception in Beijing, Xi outlined the necessity for China to sustain economic momentum and focus on innovation-driven, high-quality development to ensure a strong start to the 15th Five-Year Plan, which runs from 2026 to 2030.
Xi highlighted the need for improving people’s livelihoods and meeting the targets set for the year to further bolster China’s development. He also reiterated support for the “one country, two systems” policy in Hong Kong and Macao, advocating for their greater integration into China’s overall development strategy.
Addressing cross-Strait relations, Xi called for deeper exchanges and cooperation with Taiwan, while opposing “Taiwan independence” and external interference. He emphasized the importance of peaceful development in these relations, underscoring China’s stance on maintaining stability and unity.
