China has launched a new research center dedicated to enhancing the protection and scientific management of Jiuzhai Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Sichuan Province. This initiative is designed to bolster the preservation efforts of the valley by applying scientific research to its conservation strategies.

The research center’s primary focus will be on preventing geological hazards, restoring ecosystems following earthquakes, and conserving the valley’s distinctive travertine landscapes and lake ecosystems. Furthermore, the center will conduct long-term environmental monitoring to ensure the sustained health of Jiuzhai Valley’s natural resources.

Spanning approximately 720 square kilometers, Jiuzhai Valley is celebrated for its breathtaking scenery, which includes crystal-clear lakes, stunning waterfalls, and picturesque glacial landscapes. These natural wonders contribute to its standing as one of China’s most treasured and frequently visited natural attractions.

The establishment of this research center underscores China’s commitment to managing and preserving its natural heritage sites. By integrating scientific expertise into the management of Jiuzhai Valley, the initiative seeks to improve conservation outcomes and ensure that the site’s unique environmental attributes are safeguarded for future generations.
